The Origin Story

About

Created in 1987, Stowe Fire District #2 is a non-profit homeowner's association that provides clean and reliable water to the forty two (42) residents/property owners in the Goldbrook/Dewey Hill district.  Founded by John VanBlarcom, Elise Braun, Charlie Burnham, Joe Jankowski, and Artie Rothenberg, the district was formed to acquire, upgrade, operate, and maintain the water systems for domestic use.  The district is responsible for installing, operating, and maintaining the water system including the wells, pumps, reservoirs, tanks, main water lines, etc.

We have two wells that service our community.  They are located at 274 Goldbrook Circle and at 251 Dewey Hill Road.  

 

There is a pump station at the Goldbrook Circle location, as well as a smaller pump on Dewey Hill Road.

Partners

Stowe Fire District #2 works with many entities ensure that  your water is safe and reliable.  Here's a rundown of who we work with every day:

Simon Operation Service (SOS) assists as our water and wastewater utility operator and acts as our consultant in all matters with State and Federal Environmental Agencies, engineering firms and contractors.

Endyne Labs samples and tests our water monthly for Coliform, E.coli, etc.

Brookfield Service maintains and inspects the emergency backup generator at the pump house.

Dale Percy provides any necessary excavation work and keeps the pump house free of snow in the winter months.

Stowe Electric provides the electricity needed to power the water pumps.

Consolidated Communications handles the phone service for the controls at the pump station, and will alert SOS when something falls out of parameters.

Union Bank is our local banking partner that we use for accounts payable and receivable.

Morgan Stanley holds our high yield savings account.

Mossey Bookkeeping provides monthly bookkeeping services and prepares our monthly financial statements.

T.S. Peck Insurance provides insurance coverage to the district.

North Country Property Maintenance maintains the pump house area in the summer months.
